Do Sports Drinks Really Give You the Edge?
We've discussed how important it is to stay hydrated while working out, especially in the summer months when the heat can become problematic. Many athletes turn to sports drinks as their choice of rehydrating beverage during and after an intense workout.
Curefest
Nearly 8,000 people attended the first ever CureFest in Humble, TX on Saturday, July 28th. 12 members from Tiger-Rock Martial Arts of Atascocita whose ages ranged from 6 to 16 preformed during the event. During their 35 minute demo, the students performed the Ho-Am Form and showcased different traditional patterns as well.
Rethink Your Drink
Sugary drinks, such as pop or juice, may hurt more than just your teeth! Not only do drinks high in sugar add empty calories to your diet, but it also raises your blood sugar. This could lead to hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and diabetes. It also may increase your risk of cardiovascular disease.
Don't forget to Rest!
The 2012 Tiger-Rock Martial Arts World Championships were a huge success with many people from around the United States attending to compete, watch, and attend a variety of trainings and seminars that were available. Just as it is important to eat healthy and exercise to prepare ourselves and improve our lives, it is also important to rest properly. There are many benefits associated with getting the proper amount of sleep, among those including improved memory, longer lifespan, spur creativity, and improve athletic performance.
Tiger Rock Gets Results
Getting healthy is easy with the Tiger-Rock System. Let’s look at the results from a few Tiger-Rock I-X Nutrition participants!
Eddie W. started about one year ago with a triglyceride level that was over 500! His latest lab work shows a triglyceride level of just 86. His blood glucose was also elevated---typical symptoms of the lifestyle disease that doctors call "Metabolic Syndrome". He also lost 22 lbs and 4 inches off his waist. He eats what he wants just by following the I-X Nutrition principles. He works out 3 or 4 times each week either in Taekwondo or Kisado. Incredible results in just under a year!

Back to School!
This is the month that many of our youth are heading back to school. The start of the new school year brings with it many opportunities. For example, we can use this time to start incorporating healthy habits into our everyday lives. One way to accomplish this is to plan (with your child's input of course) to attend 2 lessons a week at your Tiger-Rock Taekwondo academy.
Girl Power - Community Action
Twelve year old Kaynan Goldberg received her 1st Degree Black Belt on June 8th, 2011! Leading up to this momentous occasion, Kaynan spent 6 months working on her blog about healthy eating, VeggiesGoCrunch.com. Topics on her site range from buying from the local Farmer's Market to the health benefits of drinking coconut water to rehydrating after TaeKwonDo!
Have You Chased the Antelope Today?
Before you laugh, did you know that our ancestors were always in constant motion spending their days either foraging for food or yes…even chasing the antelope? In his book Racing the Antelope: What Animals Can Teach Us about Running and Life, biologist Bernd Heinrich tells us that even though the antelope is one of the world’s fastest mammals, ancient man was able to run them to a state of exhaustion during hunts. How? The antelope is a great sprinter, but they are unable to go on and on for long distances at a time. On the other hand, Heinrich calls the human species an endurance predator. Man has a combination of slow-twitch and fast-twitch muscle fibers that give us the metabolism to sprint short distances even after going and going for miles.
